Chief Executive Officer (Part-Time)
Chief Executive Officer (Part-Time)

Work from home | Approx. 25–30 hours per week
A leadership role with purpose, flexibility, and national influence.
Registered Master Landscapers (RML) is the national association representing the full breadth of New Zealand’s landscaping industry — from design and construction to maintenance. For over 40 years, we’ve championed professionalism, fostered connection, and promoted excellence across the sector.
We’re seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to guide RML into its next phase of growth. Working closely with an engaged volunteer Board, you’ll lead our strategy, strengthen partnerships, and advocate for an industry that helps shape Aotearoa’s outdoor environments.
This flexible, part-time role is ideal for a seasoned professional seeking meaningful leadership with balance — whether returning to work, transitioning from full-time executive life, or looking to apply hard-earned skills in a purpose-led context.
About the Role
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving the direction, visibility, and sustainability of RML by:
• Implementing RML’s strategic plan and annual priorities
• Growing membership and delivering value for members nationwide
• Building and maintaining partnerships and sponsorships
• Representing the landscaping industry to media, government, and allied sectors
• Overseeing key national events such as Landscapes of Distinction and Young Landscaper of the Year
• Managing finances, communications, and operations with transparency and efficiency
This is a remote position with flexibility around hours and location, but some national travel is required for events and meetings.
About You
You’re an experienced leader who values collaboration, purpose, and connection. You bring:
• Proven experience in a leadership or senior management role, ideally within a not-for-profit, membership, or industry organisation
• Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging across diverse audiences
• Strategic thinking and commercial awareness, with sound governance and financial oversight
• Excellent administrative, written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive, hands-on approach, comfortable operating independently while keeping the Board well-informed
Knowledge of the landscaping, horticulture, or construction sectors is an advantage — but not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead authentically and champion a growing profession.
